Raducanu made it to the third stage in three out of four Grand Slams this year.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has pulled out of her remaining competitions this season as a result of the illness she has been battling for the last week and a half.

The 22-year-old was scheduled to compete in events in Asia but chose to travel back to rest and recuperate ahead of launching her preparations for 2026.

Those preparations will include trainer Francisco Roig, as they will keep partnering again next season.

Raducanu required blood pressure checks during her first-round match against Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and retired when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She needed once more medical attention at the recent Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in round one.

She was also playing with clear difficulty in the deciding set in the match with Zhu due to back discomfort that has been a concern at times this year.

Such performances signaled a promising season, in which Raducanu rose into the international top 30 after more than three years in more than three years, concluded with three straight losses.

Raducanu had three match points prior to falling to Pegula in the third round in the Beijing tournament last month.

The player achieved twenty-eight matches during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami event in March.

As Britain's top player made the last eight of the WTA 1000 event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed on the way prior to a loss in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

Her coach was Mark Petchey as coach from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role for the US Open.

The original arrangement with the former trainer of Nadal was until the end of the season but the collaboration persists, with a training session scheduled for the end of the year.

The athlete revealed that the trial session alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She came very close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati in August.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she advanced to round three then falling to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
