Ex- Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors report that a ex- physician has been charged with performing assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.

The Grave Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

One senior CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Authorities have asked anyone with concerns to get in touch with the relevant police force.
