An analysis titled “Until the Danger Ceases” submitted information requests to children’s services departments across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Figures from one hundred thirty-five local authorities showed that out of two thousand three hundred thirty-five children categorized as having been trafficked or believed to be trafficking victims, 864 (thirty-seven percent) were listed as disappeared.

Overall 141 local authorities responded to inquiries about lone child asylum seekers in their care, who totaled 11,999 minors. Of these, one thousand five hundred one (thirteen percent) were listed as disappeared.

The study, released by non-profit organizations, warns that these categories are at “extremely elevated danger” of going missing from care.

A number of exploited minors in the UK are British citizens while the remainder are from abroad.

The authors also encourage the Department for Education to ensure all exploited and lone minors can access proper lodging that shields them from being abused further.

Housing Concerns

Since September 2021, government bodies have been obligated to make certain that all children in care under sixteen are located in facilities that provide care.

Nevertheless, youths in their late teens can still be accommodated in so-called “assisted housing” that does not offer day-to-day care.
