Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's expected for questions to be raised about his position after a further heavy defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, representing the team's worst streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received plenty of backing from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory obviously but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it's typical that people question you.”

He added, “I accept my situation. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard conversations we have I sense the confidence. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Response

The manager lamented recurring failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a period like this with performances this poor.”

He concluded, “But we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is taken away, we will always compete.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to where it needs to be, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
