🔗 Share this article The Mighty Nein's Introductory Sequence Chose the Wrong Critical Role Track This latest animated series, the newest animated adventure from the beloved role-playing group, unveiled an exciting introductory sequence. It showcases the beloved group of outcasts, outcasts, and criminals kicking ass and taking names, while teasing at multiple heart-wrenching personal histories for characters including the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's orc warlock, the character Fjord. Overall, the intro looks amazing. But I couldn't help feeling that an element was missing in the music selection. This sequence uses "Welcome to the Continent", a truly stellar composition created by producer and singer the talented musician. It's a track from the official score of that title, the second release put out by Critical Role Productions LLC's music division Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a wonderful sentimental option, and I believe that fans of the sequel series will appreciate its inclusion. Personally, The Mighty Nein's intro fails to capture the hype and excitement that accompanied the show's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", written by singer-songwriter Jason Charles Miller, became an immediate hit for me when it was initially unveiled in 2015, and it only got better when cast member Sam Riegel wrote words to the tune for the animated Campaign 2 opening in the later year. Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, another performer, a co-star, as well as the writer, the song was memorable and fun. At the time, I hadn't even watched the second campaign yet, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my device. It's a song that knows how to get you pumped before you dive into an episode of fantasy hijinks. The Mighty Nein's intro with "the new song" fails to hit the same chords for me. It's a grand piece of music, but based on my understanding of this party, I feel that its tone is a little off. Naturally, Critical Role has stated that the animated show will have a few surprises and variations from the original live sessions. An adjusted mood for its intro seems to be one of them. The Mighty Nein will be released on the streaming service from Nov. 19. For those eager until then, or want a head start to get to know the personas of the second series, the original episodes are available on Spotify and YouTube.
